About The Meno Project

We shall be better and braver and less helpless if we think that we ought to enquire – Plato, Meno
The Meno Project is an independent blog published by me, Charles. The goal of this project is to explore quantitative trading techniques through a scientific lens. Our focus is on fundamentally understanding and modeling the US stock market, and developing trading strategies based on those models.
The project's name is inspired by Plato's Meno. While the dialogue itself has nothing to do with trading, it serves as a template for the inquiry-based approach we will use here. Its spirit is one of unbiased curiosity and fundamental questioning - a paradigm we aim to adopt here.
If you subscribe to The Meno Project, you'll get email newsletters about new content when it's available.
Disclaimer
No content in The Meno Project should be taken as financial advice. I am not a financial advisor, and all content on The Meno Project is purely educational. I am not liable for any trading losses incurred by readers, and I remind readers that trading securities involves significant risk, and that past performance does not guarantee future results.
Additionally, it is important to note that practical success in trading is far more dependent on the care taken by the trader to the details of their system - thorough backtesting, risk mitigation, etc. - than the sophistication of their strategy. Since we will not focus on those details here, the understanding we strive to gain in The Meno Project is only one piece of the puzzle when it comes to creating a successful trading business, whether individual or institutional.
